Mercury Knives was founded in 1950 by Attilio Del Ben. Since childhood, Attilio had shown a particular
interest in the construction of hand made objects.
ln 1946, at the end of completing four long difficult years in the Italian army, Attilio embarked on his dream
of making Italian knives as a profession. His mission and Mercury's major aim became the production of
specialized pocket knives and multipurpose penknives. This branch of production is still Mercury's main
activity.
The quality of the hand finish on these knives is the distinguishing characteristic of the high standard of
Mercury knives. This is as important today as it was in the past. Several years later, Attilio introduced his
sons to the business to guarantee the continued tradition of Mercury.

This unusual knife was created by Mercury Knives as the result of a direct need, the hunting and picking
of mushrooms. The bubinga handle and natural bristle brush are the touches that make this mushroom
knife a custom piece.
These knives are made in Italy, home of some of the world's most ardent mushroom enthusiasts.
The blade is hardened stainless steel 'pruner' blade for clean, accurate cutting of the mushroom. A
serrated scraper edge on the reverse of the blade is used for removing soil from the stem. The brush is
for light cleaning. The centimetre scale on the handle is for measuring the mushroom. Stainless steel
tweezers. Stainless steel chain with clip.
The blade, springs and implements are all stainless steel.
Handle length is 4 1/2 inches.
